Dorchester RFC Under 16s Tour to Paris
The half term break saw Dorchester RFC Under 16s undertake a 6 day tour to Paris. 27 players and 20 adults started the trip with a coach journey from Dorchester to Paris on the Sunday.
The week was packed with a variety of activities, ranging from a sightseeing tour of Paris including a picnic under the Eiffel Tower to a day at Disneyland Paris! Tuesday saw the group attend a training session at Top 14 club Stade Francais where they were able to watch the players put through their paces.
On the playing side, the team played 3 games won 2 and lost 1. On the Tuesday night they came up against another English club (Acklam from Middlesborough) whom they beat 17-0 before going down 0-14 to the host club AS Lagny. The final game of the tour was on the Thursday when Dorchester ran out 31-19 winners against a strong Pontault Combault side.
Team Manager Andrew Smith said “ the trip has taken 4 years of fund raising and organising. Everyone had a fantastic time and it was so pleasing to see the players bond well culminating in a huge team effort in overcoming Pontault Combault. We have made new friends at both clubs and we are hopeful they will pay us a visit next year”
