Dorchester went into this game determined to shrug off a close defeat by Corsham the previous week, but preparations were disrupted by the late withdrawal of vice captain Carl Mitchell.
Trowbridge started the brighter of the two sides and
forced Dorchester to defend for the first quarter, but came away without a point. This gave the home side the confidence and a platform to build on, forcing Trowbridge into errors and resulting in the home sides first try from James Newsam, converted by Rich Bament.
Ten minutes later, great work by James Newsam, expertly freed the ball for centre Idris Croft to score in the corner, the home side went into half time 12-0 up.
Early in the second half saw Dorchester waste two golden opportunities to put the game to bed. Trowbridge responded by camping on the home sides try line, dogged defence forced Trowbridge to turn over ball and the pressure was lifted.
Bament added a further penalty on 65 minutes prior to Chris Miners yellow card for repeated infringement. Another period of Trowbridge pressure right at the death gave a the visitors a well deserved consolation try. The conversion attempt hitting the upright being the last play of the game.
