Dorchester went some way to erasing the memory of last weeks slip up when they comprehensively defeated an under strength Warminster side.
The match, played in near perfect conditions, started slowly but burst into life as winger Jack Elliott demonstrated his pace and power to run in three tries in the first period. The home side quickly established superiority in both scrum and line out and, in contrast to last week, rucked in numbers to provide a good supply of quick ball for the backs to run.
Elliott opened his account in the tenth minute, running back a poor clearance kick and breaking several tackles before touching down by the posts. Rich Bament converted and then added two penalties before Elliott outpaced the defence for two further tries, one of which was converted. Dorchester went into the break leading by a comfortable twenty five points.
Dorchester are renowned for relaxing in such circumstances. Determined this would not happen on this occasion, Mike Sprules had the players running contact drills before the restart. This appeared to have the desired effect as Dorchester put Warminster to the sword.
Six further tries were scored in the second period. The scorers being Rich Bament (2), Gareth Biddle, Tom Caines, Stephen Hodgson and replacement Tom Gower. Bament added three conversions and Lee Harvey casually added the extra for the final try with the last kick of the game. In addition to the win there were highly encouraging home debuts from Callum Hawkins and front row replacement Tom Bamlet.
