Both Dorchester and Weymouth rugby clubs take pride of place at the headquarters of Rugby Union, Twickenham Stadium.

A Picasso like graphic of the two clubs locked in action two seasons ago is featured alongside shots of England International players in the brand new office complex beneath the south stand. The picture features Dorchester skipper Dave Gower and Weymouth captain Mark Sample about to clash head to head following a scrum at Monmouth Avenue in a Dorset and Wilts. Division One derby game.

The image was captured by local snapper Idris Martin who explains how it comes to be sited at rugby headquarters. Idris MartinIdris explains: “As Dorset and Wilts. Press Officer I shoot a great deal of local rugby and the RFU wanted to feature players from grass roots rugby as well as the professional and international game.

A representative of a graphic design company working for the RFU phoned me about six months ago asking me to email them some images, so I sent them about 30, mostly of matches featuring Weymouth and Dorchester rugby clubs in action, and this was one of the three they chose to feature in the new office complex.

I covered the Dorset and Wilts Sield Final (see pictures) against Leicester County Final game on Sunday and was invited to view my pictures and to say I am pleased with the results is an understatement, they seem almost Picasso like and life size and all I was expecting was a few framed pictures.  So I think that when I see Mark and Dave again I will be tapping them both up for a pint or two”.
